Timbers Bits – Road Trippin

The Timbers travel to the city of Angels to play Chivas USA on Saturday at 7:30pm. The Timbers are coming off their first home loss, while Chivas had two draws with Columbus 3-3 and the Whitecaps 1-1 in the past week. This Saturday’s match will be the goats third in eight days. The faithful have good reason to hope for the Timbers first win on the road. Chivas has only one win at home at Home Depot Park with a 1-3-2 home record. Chivas is one of a few MLS teams that has a better record on the road (2-1-3) then in their home ground.

Kelley from Timbers Insider gives you a training update from yesterday and there was good news abound as Futty will stay with the squad instead of going to The Gambia for international duty and the Pores had their first child. That’s news that could make anyone smile. Video interview with Spencer and players included.

Slide Rule Pass takes a deeper look into the Timbers performance and analyzes each sides performance.

The ball had worked it’s way to Barrett after some nice one touch passing had dragged the Timbers defence all over, allowing Donovan to slip Barrett in. Donovan had dropped a little deeper, finding himself in a pocket of space as Alhassan didn’t track him, and Wallace wasn’t close enough to get to him in time before the USMNT star cleverly laid the ball into the path of Barratt, who ran into the space vacated by Futty after LA’s slick passing had pulled him out of position.
