Super quick guide on who to root for

29 September 2011 907 views 3 Comments

Because thinking is hard, here’s who Timbers fans should root for Thursday through Sunday:

DC over Philly (5pm)

Chicago over Houston (1pm)
Toronto over New York (4:30pm)
Dallas over Colorado (6pm)

DC over Philly (5pm)
Timbers over Vancouver (1:30pm)
Chivas over Union (5pm)
(according to this site)

Can someone explain why DC getting six points is a good thing? Is it because Portland has a tie-breaker over Philly and their best chance of making it is alongside DC?

Also, because the writer was kind of a dick on Twitter, we’ll point out that he doesn’t think the Cascadia Cup counts as a trophy:

Still, the possibility exists that the Sounders will finish the season without a trophy.

Is it because DC would then take one of the automatic berths in the eastern conference? Academic now though I suppose seeing as they lost to Philly tonight :)

Scratch that above, head to head is better against Philly? A win and a draw versus a loss so far against DC.

First time I’ve looked at it and even at this stage of the season there are so many permutations it’s unreal.

Yeah a lot of these wins are just a 1% swing either way. If Toronto somehow beat the Red Bulls, that would be bigger than the others.
