I’ve got an apology to make. I’ve been screwing up the payouts. For example, if you bet $5 on a 2:1, I’ve been paying out $10, but really you should get $15 since your original bet should be returned as well. I don’t really care though because we’re giving you free monopoly money to play with so no complaints! Going forward we’ll get it right.
With the playoff race in full swing, this week you can bet on lots of other matches. We’re only giving out lines on results that are supposed to be helpful to the Timbers (according to sportsclubstats.com), so you can still feel like you’re betting for your team.

Because thinking is hard, here’s who Timbers fans should root for Thursday through Sunday:
Thursday
DC over Philly (5pm)
Saturday
Chicago over Houston (1pm)
Toronto over New York (4:30pm)
Dallas over Colorado (6pm)
Sunday
DC over Philly (5pm)
Timbers over Vancouver (1:30pm)
Chivas over Union (5pm)
(according to this site)
Can someone explain why DC getting six points is a good thing? Is it because Portland has a tie-breaker over Philly and their best chance of making it is alongside DC?
Also, because the writer was kind of a dick on Twitter, we’ll point out that he doesn’t think the Cascadia Cup counts as a trophy:
Still, the possibility exists that the Sounders will finish the season without a trophy.

Last Friday the Timbers experimented for the first time this year expanding the seating capacity beyond 20,000. Merritt Paulson said they were going to analyze the data, but that early reports were positive.
What was your anecdotal experience?
Here’s mine: As part of the betting game, I timed my halftime bathroom wait. I sit in the north end, at the top of 205, and I headed to the bathroom just after the PTFC chant ended at half time. That’s probably the exact worst time in the stadium to head to the bathrooms, and since I’m at the very top, it’s a bit of a walk. My wait time was 9:23 (see screen shot), but that might be a worst case scenario. Most of the people in line around me were joking about the wait, and didn’t seem to mind too much.
On the positive side, I didn’t have a problem … Read the rest

The house got cleaned out last week, so the lines are going to have to tighten up a bit. Thank goodness Kenny Cooper didn’t pull off a hat trick (250:1 payout) or we’d have to close shop right now.
Advice from the Gambling Insider
It’s a tough night to pick between Nagbe, Cooper and Perlaza. Nagbe just had his best match of the season, but Perlaza may make a good bet depending on who Spencer rests for NY. We could see Perlaza/Nagbe or Perlaza/Cooper up front. Cooper scored the lone Timbers goal against San Jose last time they met.

Last week the only winning move was not to play. The Timbers couldn’t score and Marcelin didn’t get subbed in, so the house cleaned up. There will be a new bet this week, allowing you to bet against the Timbers. I don’t recommend it unless you want to have bad luck all week though, it’s like betting the Don’t Pass Line in craps.
Advice from the Gambling Insider
The Gambling Insider has been following the twitters and sent us these tips:
- Kalif is a can’t miss proposition this week, just like every other week. (from @PortlAndrew)
- Scouts at Jeld-Wen saw this top prospect on the field Thursday, might he be subbed in? (from @ShawnLevy)
- When considering the side bets, don’t forget the expanded capacity.
