Can we play you every week? Timbers win 2-1

20 August 2011 481 views No Comment

Unfortunately, Portland can’t play the Whitecaps every week, but the Timbers looked good in their 2-1 victory. It’s still a long road toward playoff contention and Houston winning tonight means the Timbers might be playing for the 10th spot. They’ll be fighting against NY, Chivas and DC United (who have two points and a game in hand on Portland).

Did Spencer light a fire under Chara? He was much more involved on offense with a goal, followed by another skillful shot.

Another change we saw tonight was the Timbers looked a lot tougher. The Timbers Army may have been booing at some of the calls, but there was a reason Vancouver was getting a few calls- they were taking hits from Portland. That’s something that’s been lacking lately.

We’ll find out after September 24th if the Timbers still have a chance to win the Cascadia Cup. Right now it is in Seattle’s hands, but the Timbers did their part tonight.
