2011 Portland Timbers Media Day Extravaganza

12 April 2011 1,056 views No Comment

It was bright and sunny for the 2011 Media day as Timbers did their first training on the turf at Jeld Wen Field. All along the north eastern side of the stadium stood camera people and photographers snapping away. Every local news channel and newspaper was in full attendance. The area’s attention is definitely focused on the Timbers home opener.

Construction looks 99.8% complete as workers raced around putting final touches of paint here and there. There is a lot of testing of the equipment going on as well, such as the PA system, LED boards and the giant HD video board.
This was my first real experience in the nearly finished stadium and I have to say it was very impressive. The Timbers have made a great stadium better. You could spend 20 million more dollars and not do a better job than what has been done here at the House of Pane. The new High Def video-board is huge and will be easily readable even for the TA. The Key Bank Club offers fantastic views from every seat and the indoor restaurant would make anyone want a prawn sandwich.
The North End is as awesome as ever, with several new capo stands jutting from the first row of several sections. The players tunnel is right under neath section 107. There is a large capo stand right in front of the 107ist with a bridge over the players tunnel. The old tarps in the upper 200 level have been replaced with more attractive tarps featuring axes and chevrons.

We wanted to bring you as much content as possible from our first experience in the newly renovated stadium, so here we go.
