It was cold sunny afternoon in Toronto as the Timbers lost their second match of the season. Javier Martina was the man of the match as he scored both goals for Toronto FC. The first goal came in the 14th minute after the Timbers defense failed to breakup the Toronto attack. Dwayne De Rosario broke into the box and gave a great pass to a poorly marked Martina who was able to beat Adin Brown.

The Timbers finished up three days of training on Wednesday prior to leaving for Toronto on Thursday. Some notes and info from training this week:
* Sal Zizzo will be available off the bench this Saturday in Toronto. Spencer said the plan in Colorado was to have Sal enter the game as a substitute, but when the team went down 3-0 there was no sense in risking further injury to his shoulder and the extra rest would be more beneficial than getting a few minutes of action.
Power Rankings »
Power rankings don’t mean much, but they are an interesting way to look at what others are saying about our club. With only one MLS game in the books and a poor first half against Colorado we are being ranked right near the bottom. The only team to rank worse than us overall is this Saturday’s opponent Toronto FC.

And so it goes, Gilbert is a no go this year.
“He will not be joining us this year,” Wilkinson told the newspaper. “It was taking too long. We always had a deadline on it and that deadline was extended a little bit.”
When contacted by MLSsoccer.com, a Portland spokesperson confirmed Wilkinson’s comments, adding that there would be “no further pursuit of the matter.”
