Well with a 0-2 record the Timbers rest at the bottom of the rankings. The win against Chivas will hopefully help the team get a a solid result against New England on Saturday.This Saturday’s match is the last chnace for the Timbers to get points before their home opener on April 14th.

The first two matches of the Timbers MLS campaign are history with two matches and zero points. On Tuesday the Timbers begin a new campaign at the University of Portland’s Merlo Field for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The Timbers will host Chivas USA in the U.S. Open Cup qualifier. The Timbers were awarded the opportunity to host their first U.S. Open Cup play-in match through a coin toss conducted by Major League Soccer on Feb. 28. The winner of the Timbers-Chivas USA matchup will travel to face the San Jose Earthquakes in a second-round, play-in game in April.

The Portland Timbers and American Red Cross are partnering to help out survivors of Japan’s devastating earthquake earlier this month. Sorry, if you’re sick of of Japan coverage, if so, then stop being such a cold-hearted bastard.  Assistance funds will be raised through portions of tickets and other sales, for further details….

In support of aid efforts following the recent earthquake in Japan, the Timbers and American Red Cross have teamed up to play host to an awareness night on Sunday, April 17, at JELD-WEN Field as the Timbers take on FC Dallas; kickoff is set for 3 p.m.

The Timbers and American Red Cross are offering a special ticket for the April 17 match, with proceeds benefiting the Red Cross’ efforts to aid the earthquakes victims in Japan. Priced at $37, the ticket includes complimentary food and beverages, courtesy of Centerplate, during an exclusive reception on the Widmer Brothers
