Ryan Pore the Man with the Golden Boot

5 October 2010 1,872 views 3 Comments

Ryan Pore has had a stellar 2010, winning the Division 2 title for most goals (15) and overall points leader (35).  Pore started the season red hot scoring 6 goals in the first four games of the season.   While the hot scoring streak slowed a little, time and time again he put the ball in the back of the net.  Some of those goals did come from penalty kicks, but it was Ryan who could be counted on to hit those pks during the regular season.

Ryan is an attacking midfielder who has been a crucial part of the Timber’s offense, in addition to his 15 goals he tallied 5 assists. Charging ahead and finding space is something Pore has done well this season, a clear example is the 2nd goal by Dike in the draw with Vancouver last Saturday (Video 2:20). Pore quickly charges through the midfield, turns his defenders, finds some space and then perfectly flicks the through ball for Dike to finish. Pore also has an amazing ability to use his head, whether it be from the top of the box against Vancouver early in the season (video 2:41) or putting his entire body on the line diving for the Sunflower Goal (video).  There is an aggressive nature to Ryan on the field, and the only thing that seems to satisfy this beast is goals.

This is Ryan’s second season with the Timbers and he is definitely solidifying his place among Timber greats. In 2009 he was the second leading scorer on the team with 10 goals and 2 assists. The 2009 winning streak saw a six consecutive game scoring streak for Pore.  A big congratulations to Ryan Pore for all his success he has found being a Timber.
